This is a jellyfish ornament made of clay for a clay contest sponsored by Catharsis JB [link] .
From tip to tip the jellyfish measures 6cm x 9.5cm (approximately 2.33 x 3.75 inches), with a weight that is too small to measure on a kitchen scale.
The jellyfish is composed of Premo Sculpey clay in the following colors: Glow-in-the-Dark 5703 Translucent 5310 Ultramarine Blue 5563 Purple 5513 Sea Green 5305 There is one piece of metal in the ornament and that is the 24 gold (plated) hook on the top. (The tentacles have no wire in them...they are formed completely out of clay).
The jellyfish is fairly translucent much like a real jellyfish. It is not as fragile as I expected (something I found out when I accidentally dropped it from high up and it bounced).
Because of the number of prototypes made to get to this point I will not post the hours it took...but it sure was a lot, lot, LOT longer than I expected.
Now for a description of the photos. Starting with the smallest picture in the upper left corner and going clockwise.

Although most jellyfish live in the water this one is destined for our Christmas tree as I feel that there are far too few jellyfish ornaments.
Sheesh, you should win. I don't see why it is taking the judges so long.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
